Welcome, Friend!
I’m a writer in my 70’s focusing on living, not aging, in my 4th quarter. L4Q reflects the acquired wisdom, courage, and agency I’ve gained and want to share.
I’m very glad you’ve stopped by. I hope you stay awhile to poke around the neighborhood and sign on to become a part of it.
Living with awareness, acceptance, and accommodation.
Shifting from “doing” to “being” yet staying a curious learner.
Having agency over how we live: with courage, resilience, and curiosity. The gumption that got us this far.
Here’s what’s on offer for paid subscribers:
The L4Q Subscriber Series. Articles will go where generic aging content doesn’t: deep-dive coverage of researched retirement topics, so you don’t have to piece it together yourself. Plus, it will become a reference packet you’ll actually use.
You’ll receive a perspective on the economics, emotions, and the decisions that impact living in the 4th quarter - from a sassy septugenarian.
This isn’t productivity advice dressed up as wisdom. A paid subscription keeps that perspective in your inbox.
All Subscribers will enjoy:
A free newsletter twice a month. It’s the meat and potatoes of Living in the 4th Quarter, an array of topics and experiences that continue to challenge or grace my life, dunked in my brew of reflection.
Here are some examples:
A monthly Round-up of things on and off Substack that I’ve found interesting, and think you will, too.
A word about me:
As a veteran of a jagged career path riddled with pivots, I’m no stranger to starts, stops, resets — all the stuff that gives life its rich texture. Writing has been the throughline, journaling the lifeline. This letter is both a throughline and a lifeline.
L4Q reflects my acquired wisdom, courage, and the agency gained over time. Regardless of where life finds us, this is no time to curl up and surrender.
My philosophy is best expressed in this great line, attributed to Goethe:
Whatever you can do or dream you can, begin it. Boldness has genius, power and magic in it.
I continue to believe, fervently, that that is damn true. Life is rich.
